Lucky Second Graders!

The second grade classes have been treated to several wonderful presentations in the past few weeks. The H.U.G.S. group brought Chewonki to our school. We were thrilled with a program about owls. We were able to see three live owls; a sawhet owl, a barred owl, and a great horned owl! These owls are in the care of workers at Chewonki. All three birds were injured and taken to Chewonki to recover.

We were involved with a Kids and Trees Program with Steve and Elaine Law from Dover-Foxcroft. All second graders helped to tranplant little fir seedlings from a small peat pot to a larger pot to give the trees more room to grow. The plants will be tranplanted later this spring to the field by the third grade class. By the time our class becomes seniors in high school the trees will be ready to cut. Amazing!!!
