This is the weekly schedule for Mrs Patten's class.

The 3rd graders had quite a treat today. The Chewonki Foundation visited us with their Birds of Prey presentation.
There were lots of interesting artifacts to see and touch. there were
bird skulls, talons, wings, feathers, stuffed birds, eggs, and owl
pellets. We were also able to see three amazing live specimens; an
ominous looking barred owl with piercing dark brown eyes, a cute little
screech owl, and a majestic red-tailed hawk. The students learned lots
of new information. We learned that these birds are raptors, birds who catch and kill their prey with their talons. (Vocabulary word for the day was 'zygodactyl' )
If you see a 3rd grader ask them what it means. A big thank you goes
out to the H.U.G.S. group who provided the funds to make this
presentation possible. We look forward to having Chewonki visit us
again sometime. It was a tremendous experience.
