FIELD TRIP: The maple sugar trip to Breakneck Ridge is set for Thursday, April 3. Students will lunch at the farm, participate in winter activities, and observe the maple sugaring process. Of course, ice cream and maple syrup will top off the visit. Students need to be aware of the weather for that day and dress accordingly. Layering of clothing seems to work well, as a sweater or sweatshirt may be removed if the weather warms during the day. Most important will be footwear. Waterproof boots are best.
HEALTH: Most of the students have effectively demonstrated assertive resistance to tobacoo use using the skits they created in class. Our next unit of study will focus on the male and reproductive system along with changes that occur during puberty.
SCIENCE: Models of the earth's inner structure are on display in the school lobby. These models take considerable effort and care to construct. Parents are always welcome to visit and observe this kind of work. Mrs. Titcomb has expressed how pleaseD she is with this year's results.

We just know the flowers are going to pop up through the snow, students will be wearing shorts, and we'll be planning swimming trips to the lake. Don't hold your breath, but it won't be long before nice warm weather is upon us.
PORTLAND - The trip to the Gulf of Maine Institute was very successful. Much was learned in the hands-on lab experiments and exploratory research (especially the dead fish work). It was a beautiful day for the trip in both directions. The stop at the Delorme Globe was equally interesting as questions were asked by many. Of course, stopping at MacDonald's was not a bad idea either.
MEA's - Sixth grade MEA tests are finished for this year. Most students did very well in stepping up to the task and getting the job done. While testing was going on at other grade levels, our sixth graders did very well in maintaining a quiet environment for them as classes changed.
HEALTH - Grade 6 students are working in small groups to create skits that demonstrate assertive resistance to smoking.
