Principal's Message
by Virginia Rebar
I am very happy to have been appointed to the position of Principal at PCMS. As I have been working with the staff, students, parents, and community members, it is clear to me that all stakeholders are looking for the best overall educational opportunities for our PCMS students
In order to augment the program in place, I have added some start up components including an emphasis on character development through a Character Gold Card Program. In this way, we have an "ever-present" focus on celebrating positive student choices in the areas of Compassion, Honesty, Achievement, Respect, Attitude, Courage, Tolerance, Equity, and Responsibility.
Behavior learning packets are provided during any and all corrective measures. This provides an opportunity for students to self reflect when disciplinary steps are necessary. As a result, students whose choices result in situations of unpreparedness, a lack of integrity, safety, or other limited responsibility and respect are able to learn from mistakes.
Each year SAD #4 administrators are asked to develop goals. I have chosen to work on short term and long term goals as follows:
1. Develop a Parents Organization for PCMS.
2. Create a Gifted & Talented Program for SAD #4.
3. Assist with Program and Curriculum Development at PCMS.
4. Develop and implement a K-8 Health Curriculum and serve as SAD #4 Wellness Chair and Coordinator of CSHE.
5. Provide the leadership needed at the middle school as a new principal.
In order to improve, it is necessary to establish clear direction. Our school should be one that works toward continuous improvement. Teachers have been asked to plan ahead and upgrade technological aspects to all units of instruction for the school year 2008-2009 and feature a professional development goal around technology for 2008-2009.
